Lucky escape for truckie after tree smashes through windscreen

lucky escape

SA Police say a truck driver is lucky to be alive after his truck left the road and crashed into a tree at Bordertown at the weekend.

Emergency services responded to reports of a crash on the Dukes Highway, just west of Bordertown, just before 6am on Saturday, December 9.

A large branch became impaled in the windscreen of the truck, however the driver managed to get out of the cab and appears to have sustained relatively minor injuries, said police.

The 62-year-old man was taken by ambulance to the Bordertown Hospital.

In a media release about the incident, police urged all motorists to take care on the roads at all times. Drive to the conditions and have regular rest breaks on longer trips.

Big Rigs has contacted the company involved for comment and an update on the driver’s condition.
