Truckies turn out for Tooradin show

A small coastal town in Victoria came alive on Saturday as the Tooradin Tractor Pull and Truck Show kicked off.

Held annually since 1998, this year’s event showcased about 100 trucks from owner drivers and fleets from around the country.

The show also saw modified tractors competing to see which vehicle could pull a weighted sled, that gets heavier as it moves, the longest distance in a straight line up a dirt track.

When we caught up with committee member Danni Reeves two hours into the show, she was feeling positive about the day.

She said the crowd was already strong and with fine weather and a good mix of competitions and modified tractors on show later in the afternoon, she expected it would get even better.

Awards were handed out across various categories on the day, with Wilken Bulk Haulage scooping Rig of the Show, and Best Fleet going to South East Organic Fertiliser.

Since 2016, the proceeds of the locally organised event have contributed more than $100,000 to services groups and charities in Tooradin.
