A truck driver has been charged with nine offences following a multi-vehicle crash in Five Dock, Sydney, last month.
Officers attached to Burwood Police Area Command arrived to find an eastbound truck and seven vehicles involved in a collision at the intersection of Parramatta Road and Great North Road on January 12.
Six people were taken to hospital, while a further four escaped injury.
The 53-year-old driver of the truck was breathalysed at the scene and returned a negative roadside breath result.
The Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit seized the truck for a mechanical examination.
At the time, police said they believed the driver of the truck continued through the intersection heading eastbound, causing the collision with cars headed westbound.
Following an investigation, the truck driver was yesterday (Wednesday, January 24), issued with a court attendance notice for nine offences:
- Cause bodily harm by misconduct, in charge of motor vehicle (five counts)
- Dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous
- Negligent driving (occasion grievous bodily harm)
- Negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm)
- Not stop at stop line at red light – motor vehicle
The man is due to appear before Burwood Local Court on Thursday, March 14.
