Night roadworks will begin on the Calder Freeway in Diggers Rest as part of a periodic maintenance program, with changed traffic conditions in place.
Crews will be resurfacing the southbound lanes of the Calder Freeway in Diggers Rest between Vineyard Road and Bulla-Diggers Rest Road.
The southbound lanes will be fully closed for each night (from 9pm to 5am) where works take place and re-open during the day. The Vineyard Road on-ramp will also be closed.
Work will commence Wednesday February 14 and is expected to be completed on the morning of Wednesday February 28, weather permitting.
There will be no works on Friday or Saturday nights.
Detours will be in place during work hours.
Detours for heavy vehicles
Heavy vehicles will detour from the Calder Freeway, Diggers Rest using the Vineyard Road exit, then take Diggers Rest-Coimadai Road to Toolern Vale, Gisborne-Melton Road and Federation Drive to Melton, and the Melton Highway to return to the Calder Freeway at Keilor North.
Detours for light vehicles
Light vehicles will detour via the Calder Freeway at the Vineyard Road off-ramp, travel south through Diggers Rest on Vineyard Road, turn east into Diggers Rest-Coimadai Road, then south into the Old Calder Highway where they will rejoin the Calder Freeway at Bulla-Diggers Rest Road.
VicRoads advises motorists to plan ahead and allow an extra 15 minutes of travel time for light vehicles and up to 40 minutes of extra travel time for heavy vehicles.
