The Kenworth Klassic is coming back with a bang later this year, with a focus on W models and a special line-up of rare Gold Nuggets.
Held as part of the Clarendon Classic Rally at Hawkesbury Showground in Clarendon, NSW, the 2024 event will take place from September 21-22.
Organiser David Chapman, who has been running the Kenworth Klassic for 21 years, said the upcoming show is a great incentive for truck enthusiasts to finish any half-restored W models they might have lying around.
“As soon as I announced the theme of the show this year, I had about 40 private messages in my inbox on Facebook from people who have half-restored trucks they’ve been building for about 20 years,” he told Big Rigs.
“I’ve also got one I haven’t even started restoring yet.
“It was an iconic truck back in the day, and it’s going to be ready and raring for this year’s show!”
Chapman said attendees are in for a treat with a display of special edition SAR and W models, known as Gold Nuggets.
“We get a few of the engineers from Bayswater come up and help us with the show, and they wanted to do something a little out of the ordinary this year,” he said.
“Gold Nuggets were built in the mid-80s, there were only around 30 of them made.”
Last year’s show featured a whopping 503 Kenworth trucks, as well as over 300 trucks from other brands, from vintage Peterbilts to Macks.
Chapman is hoping for another great turnout at this year’s event.
“As well as the trucks we usually have a couple of hundred cars, 100 tractors – the tractor pull would be the biggest one in the southern hemisphere for sure,” he added.
“It’s always a great show.”
