Emergency services have set up a 5km exclusion zone just south of Proserpine, Queensland, after a truck rollover on the Bruce Highway earlier today.
According to a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson, the truckie was safely out the vehicle when four units arrived at the scene to find the truck “leaking a toxic substance”.
The spokesman confirmed the truck was carrying ammonium nitrate, prill and diesel – materials typically for blasting in mines.
Police evacuated properties along Stafford Road, Campbells Road, Caping Road and O’Donnells Road.
Traffic is being diverted at Kunipipi Road for southbound traffic and Midge Point Road for northbound traffic.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area or expect significant delays.
