The Tablelands Highway is closed between the Barkly Highway and Carpentaria Highway due to severe flooding.
Road Report NT shared images of the road conditions yesterday, warning that water levels were up to 800mm over the road in some sections.
The Carpenteria Highway is also closed to most traffic, apart from high clearance 4WD vehicles, between Stuart Highway Intersection and Tablelands Highway.
On the Carpenteria Highway between Tablelands Highway and Grid at Leila Creek, motorists can proceed with caution and are advised to heed all traffic control.
Queensland is also experiencing flooding at the moment, and the Quilpie Shire Council have alerted drivers that the Quilpie – Thargomindah Road remains closed at South Comongin Crossing.
There is also flash flooding at Turner Street in Helidon, with all lanes affected and long delays expected.

The bridge will be fully closed to traffic on Sunday March 3, from 7.30pm to 4.30am.
Night works will also occur daily from 6pm to 6am until Thursday February 29 on the northern approach, and from Sunday March 3 to Tuesday March 5 on the southern approach.
Single lane closures will be in place with contraflow during night works from 6pm nightly.
Oversize vehicles or wide loads of 3.5 m wide or greater will not be permitted.

“The department apologises for any inconvenience, motorists are encouraged to travel across the bridge outside of these hours to avoid delays.”
