From this Friday, March 8, there will be changed conditions on the West Gate Freeway between Millers Road and the M80 interchange, with the freeway split into two carriageways in both directions.
This means drivers will need to follow overhead signs to choose the correct lanes to be in.
Heading outbound
As you are driving away from the city, decide early on which lanes you need to be in.
- Use the inner lanes for an easier journey from the West Gate Bridge to the M80 or Princes Freeway.
- Use the outer lanes if you want to exit at Millers Road or Grieve Parade.
Heading inbound
As you are driving towards the city, decide early which lanes you need to be in.
- Use the inner lanes for an easier journey from the M80 or Princes Freeway to the West Gate Bridge.
- Use the outer lanes if you want to exit at Millers Road or Williamstown Road.
There will be new lane markings and large permanent signs on lanes.
