Nominations for ‘Young Gunnette’ Award closing soon

Nominations close on April 12 for the inaugural Young Gunnette Award.

This award is hosted by Transport Women Australia Limited and sponsored by Cummins. The award is offered as recognition of the amazing young women that we have joining our industry today and encourage others to see that the trucking industry is a great career choice.

We have some amazing young women within our industry and among our TWAL members and this is a chance to recognise one of them. To nominate someone, contact chair@transportwomen.com.au

Registrations for the TWAL Living the Dream Conference close on May 1 and it is an event not to be missed. Our Opening Keynote is Cindy Parker from Americold on her first trip to Australia.

Cindy started her journey in temperature-controlled warehousing in March of 1994 as a shipping/receiving clerk at Zero Mountain, Inc. in Russellville, Arkansas while earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Economics/Finance and Marketing at Arkansas Tech University.

In 2012, she became the first female general manager for Zero Mountain. When Zero Mountain was acquired by Americold Logistics in 2019, Cindy transitioned to Americold. Showcasing her expertise in cold chain logistics and operations led to her promotion to Director of Operations in March 2023.

Cindy is set to receive her MBA with an emphasis in Supply Chain Management from the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas this northern summer.

We have wonderful speakers from NTI, Volvo, Viva Energy Australia, RT Health, NHVR and Healthy Heads in Trucks and Sheds. We have representatives from the National Rural Women’s Coalition, Australian Gender Equality Council and Wodonga TAFE as well as former recipients of the Driving the Difference Scholarships with a panel facilitated by Daimler Truck Australia Pacific.

Our closing Keynote is Ellen Voie, the Founder and former CEO and President of Women in Trucking USA. Ellen founded the Women In Trucking Association in March of 2007, with a mission to promote the employment of women in the trucking industry, to remove obstacles that might keep them from succeeding, and to celebrate the successes of its members.

She has been invited to speak to audiences in Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, France, Mexico, and Canada in addition to being a popular speaker at conferences throughout the United States. She has also been interviewed by major news networks including Fox News, Fox Business News, Bloomberg News, and Voice of America.

Ellen has received numerous awards for her work with Women in Trucking for promoting women and gender diversity in the trucking industry.

She has been recognised by the White House for her work as a Champion of Change and continues to work tirelessly for women in the trucking industry. This vocation has made her the most recognisable woman in the trucking (transportation) industry around the globe.
