The NT Road Transport Association (NTRTA) has updated industry on new directional access for truckies using the flood-ravaged Barkly Highway.
From today, heavy vehicles with a 13-axle (double road train) limit can travel between Barkly Homestead and Threeways at the below times:
- Eastbound permitted to travel ONLY between 12noon to 3pm ACST (NT-QLD).
- Westbound permitted to travel ONLY between 6am-9am ACST (QLD-NT).
At this stage access has not been granted to triple road trains, but NRTA said it will be strongly advocating for the green light.
“Please urge all drivers to be patient and respectful, and to slow down and to drive to the road conditions,” the NTRTA added.
“Please also instruct drivers to abide by the set speed limits to preserve the access.”
