Truckies can expect long delays if planning to travel through the Gindoran region on the Bruce Highway in Queensland after a man was shot dead at a rest stop earlier today.
The incident occurred at Colosseum, south of Miriam Vale at Gindoran, in Central Queensland, at around 10.50am.
The Bruce has been closed in both directions, about 30km south of Miriam Vale and 5km north of John Clifford Way, and is expected to remain that way for up to 12 hours.
According to one report, the man was first intercepted by offficers in a stolen car south of Gladstone.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman initially said the man was critically injured, but at 2.45pm it was confirmed the man had died.
Police said both lanes of the highway are closed, long delays are expected and motorists are asked to find another route.
