Truckies have slammed the facilities at the Ampol service station in West Wyalong, NSW, calling them a “f**king disgrace”.
One driver, who preferred not to be named in this article, shared some footage of the toilets and showers in the Facebook group “Truck drivers food, showers and reviews Australia-wide”.
The floors of the facilities are seen to be caked in dirt, with rubbish and tissues on the floor in the toilets, and a dirty toilet bowl.
Other truck drivers added that the facilities are regularly in a “disgusting” state.
A spokesperson for Ampol told Big Rigs that they are aware of the issues with the facilities in the service station.
“Ampol recognises that our Foodary site in West Wyalong is not up to the usual standards we expect of our retail network,” they said.
“We are undertaking work to address the issues with the amenities while also looking at refreshing some of our trucking network sites in the near future to deliver an improved experience for our customers.”
Big Rigs also raised the issue with Senator Glenn Sterle, who contacted Ampol himself to make sure they clean up the site.
“We’ve had issues with these facilities before,” he said.
“It’s obviously a popular spot, it’s a roadhouse and there’s takeaway food and it’s open to all and sundry.
“It’s a shame that they have let it slip, but they are cleaning it up now.”
My son is a truck driver & just last night we were discussing the deterioration of service station shower cleanliness & meal services. In particular, Tamworth Ampol , Murrurundi BP were in this category. Truck stops were once excellent places to have a good meal. These are slowly disappearing.
Truck drivers aren’t asking too much to have a decent meal & clean showers with doors that close, in well lit bathrooms.
