Truckies should avoid using Fitzroy Developmental Road near Dingo

Truckies are still being asked to avoid using Fitzroy Developmental Road between Dingo and Middlemount due to an ongoing grass fire.

Queensland’s Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) issued an advisory notice today that said the fire had “impacted” Springton Creek Bridge and Fitzroy Developmental Road between Springton Creek Bridge to May Downs Road intersection and will be closed until further notice.

“It is advised to delay your trip if travelling these areas or choose an alternative route. If possible, choose your route carefully and check road conditions, noting these can change suddenly,” said TMR’s heavy vehicles unit.

“When you travel on the roads, drive with caution and obey all temporary signage.”

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) yesterday, Queensland Police said no one had been physically injured but motorists were advised to avoid the area.
