Followmont CEO raises close to $80,000 for homelessness

After participating in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout for the second year running, Followmont CEO Mark Tobin has raised $79,045 for those in need.

On June 20, he joined other business owners and CEOs at a park in Brisbane, who were provided with a cardboard box and sleeping bag for the night.

Held annually, the Vinnies CEO Sleepout aims to support those who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.

“I was so humbled to support the amazing CEO Sleepout once again,” Mark said, adding it was an eye-opening experience to raise awareness and bring home the realities of homelessness.

“It’s a devastating reality for so many people and one I wish no one had to endure.

“Spending this night out in the cold, is one of the hardest things you will do both physically and mentally. The Vinnies team do a great job of placing you in the mindset of someone who is experiencing homelessness and you can feel the loneliness and quiet.

“My heart goes out to anyone in this situation. People shouldn’t be dealing with this crisis, and we need to do everything we can to support them.”

Mark began his fundraising efforts just 24 hours before the event and ended up being named the highest fundraiser for Queensland on the night, with many in the transport industry rallying behind him to support the cause.

The funds raised by Mark are enough to provide 250 individual support programs, 658 beds and 2634 meals.
