A popular roadhouse on the Great Northern Highway in Western Australia is welcoming truckies back with open arms after giving its truck parking bay an upgrade.
Paynes Find Roadhouse and Tavern was not accessible to trucks while work was underway over the past two months, but owner Katherine Taylor is relieved that the wait is over.
“It’s been a tough couple of months – trucks have not been able to pull in or park because there was really limited space,” she told Big Rigs.
“We’re delighted that we’ll finally be able to open our truck bay again by the end of this week.”
Taylor, who has been running the roadhouse alongside her husband for the past eight years, said the truck bay badly needed a makeover.
“Whenever it rained, it would get really muddy and there were potholes all the time,” she said.
“We’ve replaced the gravel with bitumen so it should be much better now.”
The parking bay can fit up to 30 doubles according to Taylor, who hopes that truckies will call in for a meal.
“We have free tea and coffee for truck drivers, as well as toilets and showers,” she said.
“We hope truck drivers will stop by and support us – they are always welcome.”
