WA freight operator Campbell Transport has praised two of its drivers, who recently stopped to help a family that had run into trouble on the road.
Truckies Damien Elliot and Chris Kantor were out on a run when they noticed that a man and his pregnant wife were in need of assistance, after they had hit a cow south of the Kimberley Mineral Sands Thunderbird turnoff.
The couple were in distress as the woman was suffering abdominal pain following the impact, but had reportedly been told by ambulance services that the situation was “non- critical”.
Elliot and Kantor contacted RAC for the couple and continued to check in on them after the incident.
This prompted the family to write a letter to Campbell Transport, commending the kindness of the drivers.
“Contacting RAC for us and the proceeding vigilance of your team gave us a great deal of reassurance in the hours we waited,” they said.
“We just want to say thank you so much to them for their kind words, reassurance and care.
“You’re an awesome group and we always hold dear what you did on Tuesday night.”
Campbell Transport took to social media to praise its two “local heroes”, announcing that they have paid for a round of golf as a reward for the drivers doing them proud.
They said: “Their actions embody our values at Campbell Transport and as such, the least we can do is shout them 18 holes at the Broome Golf Club and cart/clubs hire for their next 24hr break in recognition of their actions and care for others.”
