A man has died after his truck fell off a ferry and became submerged in a river near Grafton in NSW.
It is believed that the man, aged in his 50s, entered the Clarence River after his cane truck came unstuck while trying to board Lawrence Ferry.
The incident happened before 10am this morning, the Daily Telegraph reports.
Members of the public removed the man from the truck and commenced CPR before emergency services arrived on the scene at Merton Street, Lawrence.
NSW Ambulance paramedics then also attempted to perform CPR on the man but he could not be resuscitated and died at the scene.
The driver has not yet been formally identified.
Police have established a crime scene and are carrying out inquiries into the incident.
The Bluff Point Ferry is closed in both directions.
Drivers have been advised to use Big River Way and Lawrence Road as an alternative route to cross the Clarence River via Grafton.
