This year’s Golden Oldies Truck, Tractor & Quilt show was a roaring success, with 240 rigs rolling into the Dubbo Showground.
For the first time ever, the event was held over two days rather than one, with about 3,500 people taking part in the fun last Saturday and Sunday.
That wasn’t the only new aspect of this year’s show, as vintage buses also made their debut and a tractor pull was introduced, helping to draw a strong crowd.
Organiser Jon Mancer told Big Rigs that he was delighted with how the event went.
“We had a great variety of trucks, from old renos dating back to the early 1900s right up to 909s that were just a couple of years old.
“We had C-lines, a couple of cabover Atkinsons, S-lines, Ford Louisvilles, W-model Kenworths, K-series cabover Kenworths, you name it, it was here.
“We had people coming from Victoria and Queensland, and one bus came up from Port Lincoln in South Australia – so we had people coming from everywhere, not just New South Wales.”
Mancer describes the show as a “laid back” opportunity to catch up with friends and check out some retro rigs.
“It’s a little country show, no pressure, no trophies.
“Just park up, wander around, have a chat and enjoy yourself.”
The truck show is held every two years, with the 2026 event marking the Golden Oldies Truck Club’s 20th anniversary.
“When we started, we were the only truck club in New South Wales,” Mancer added.
“Since then, other truck clubs have been established, but we still get a lot of interest.
“We’re looking forward to the 20th anniversary – we will have to do something special for that one.”
