Viewers react as Outback Truckers makes long-awaited return

Outback Truckers made its long-awaited return to our screens last night, with an action-packed episode starring show favourites like Steve Grahame, Sludge and Robbie Mackay.

With three years elapsing since the last series of the show, viewers were eager to see what the truckies have been up to – and for the most part, they were not disappointed.

Fans took to social media to share their thoughts, with one writing on the Outback Truckers Official Facebook page: “Great to have Outback Truckers on 7mate after too long waiting. Keep the series coming.”

Another agreed: “Great show last night, both heartbreaking and heartwarming stories. Keep trucking and stay safe.”

Our current Big Rigs cover star Steve Grahame is right back at it in Season 10, tackling the harshest terrain to deliver to some of the most remote corners of Australia.

In last night’s episode, he faced a race against time in the central desert, with a major incident adding to his financial stress.

The 72-year-old has been on Outback Truckers since the beginning and is very popular with fans.

Steve Grahame is a bloody Australian legend!” one viewer wrote yesterday.

Another chimed in: “Steve Grahame is the best!”

During last night’s show, Paul “Sludge” Andrews and his wife Wendy also shared updates on his condition following a motorbike accident last year, in which he suffered major head injuries.

With Sludge still not signed off to drive his famous Peterbilt, the Phantom, Wendy jumped behind the wheel – and viewers were impressed by her willingness to have a go.

“Wendy did you proud, Sludge,” said one. “It’s not easy getting lessons from your other half, plus the pressure you are both dealing with.”

Another echoed: “Wendy, it was awesome to watch how brave you were last night. You did absolutely great. You have the best teacher beside you – great to have you back Sludge.”

Outback Truckers will continue on 7mate at 8.3opm on Tuesday nights and is also available to watch any time after airing on 7plus.
