Works are continuing at Cunninghams Gap on Queenland’s Cunningham Highway, with traffic under a single lane stop/slow conditions from 6pm on Friday September 6 until 5am on Tuesday September 10.
A reduced speed limit of 40km/hr will be in place, for the safety of road users and work crews continuing works to reduce the steep grade of the road.
Transport and Main Roads Queensland has advised drivers to expect delays and plan ahead by checking updates to the QLDTraffic website or app.
Oversize-vehicle access will be temporarily closed for construction to occur within the narrow road widths at this section of the Cunningham Highway.
Oversize vehicles (wider than 2.55m and/or longer than 30.5m) must check the Conditions of Operation Database and seek an alternative route.
The reduced speed limit of 40km/hr will still apply while pavement works are being carried out today and tomorrow (from 6pm to 6am).
Weather or site conditions can impact works, delaying start and finish schedules.
The recovery works are jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments through the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
Reconstruction works on the Cunningham Highway at Cunninghams Gap are part of the Natural Disaster Program for the South Coast Region.
