Truckies warned to expect delays on Bruce Highway

Truckies can expect delays on the Bruce Highway today after it reopened to traffic yesterday evening.

The highway is open to both lanes of traffic, with a speed reduction of 60km/h at Bororen, south of Gladstone, where a serious incident created a five-metre crater in the road last week.

Traffic management is in place at the site, and road users are not permitted to stop through the roadwork zone.

General freight and PBS heavy vehicles can operate through this section of the Bruce Highway at pre-existing mass limits, while Class 1 Oversize Overmass heavy vehicle operators are not currently permitted on this section of road.

Detour signage will be progressively removed after the opening of the Bruce Highway.

Permanent works are expected to be completed by early October 2024.

“We understand the impact the highway closure has had on road users’ ability to reach their destinations on time, and we appreciate your patience while we worked quickly to restore this access,” said Transport and Main Roads Queensland.

“Please continue to drive to conditions and observe all signage and speed restrictions in place.”
