A giant power transformer is continuing its journey up the east coast, as it makes its way through New South Wales, before crossing the Queensland border next week.
The move is being facilitated by oversized transport specialist Ares Group.
The combination is nearly 62m long, including two prime movers – and measures 4.4m wide and 5.3m high, with a gross mass of 312 tonnes.
A Transport for NSW (TfNSW) spokesperson said the transformer departed this week and is making its way through NSW to Tweed Heads, where it will cross the border into Queensland.
“It will travel along the Hume Highway, M7, M2, Pennant Hills Road, Pacific Highway, John Renshaw Drive, New England Highway and finally the Pacific Highway before arriving at the NSW/Queensland border,” said TfNSW.
“The combination will travel at reduced speeds for the duration of the journey including over bridges and at pinch point locations.”
Due to the size of the load, it is travelling across several nights, under police escort.
“Motorists are reminded to provide plenty of space, follow the directions of the escort vehicles, keep the roadway clear and avoid getting in the path of the move,” added TfNSW.
