There will be a temporary closure of the Warrigal Creek Bridge on the Flinders Highway this week to allow for bridge deck works to be completed.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) has advised that the bridge, located approximately 124km west of Charters Towers, will be closed to traffic this Friday September 27, between 9am and 1pm.
TMR says works are currently underway to repair the bridge deck surface and this temporary closure is required to complete repairs not accessible while the bridge is in use by vehicles.
Traffic controllers and Queensland Police will be onsite while works are underway. Access will be maintained for emergency services vehicles if required.
Those planning to travel over the bridge during this period will need to seek alternative routes.
These upgrade works are being delivered in addition to day works on the bridge from 7am to 5pm daily, until Friday October, 4, 2024.
Vehicle width restrictions are currently in place. Heavy vehicle with loads 3.2 metres wide or greater will need to contact the project team on 0418 743 227 at least 24 hours prior to their anticipated time of arrival to arrange for infrastructure to be cleared.
