Upcoming closures to North South Motorway

There will be upcoming temporary night-time closures to the North-South Motorway (Northern Connector) between Port Wakefield Road and the Port River Expressway, with detours in place.

The closures will allow the South Australian Department of Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) to undertake pavement marking works.

All works will be undertaken between the hours of 8pm and 5am, from October 14-26, with works being weather dependent.

DIT says the following traffic control measures will be in place with reduced speeds in place:

Northbound closure (October 14-19, between 8pm and 5am):

  • All northbound entrances to the North-South Motorway between Port Wakefield Road and the Port River Expressway will be closed.
  • Detours will be in place via the Port River Expressway, Salisbury Highway, Port Wakefield Road, Waterloo Corner Road, and Heaslip Road. Traffic controllers will be onsite to direct traffic.
  • All heavy vehicle combinations will be limited to double road train (PBS Level 3 Class A) at a maximum of 5m high, 5m wide, 36.5m long, or 150 tonnes due to the rail crossing requirements at Heaslip Road.

Southbound closure (October 21-26 between 8pm and 5am)

  • All southbound entrances to the North-South Motorway between Port Wakefield Road and the Port River Expressway will be closed.
  • Detours will be in place via Port Wakefield Road and Salisbury Highway

The Northern Connector will be re-opened to traffic, in both directions each morning in time for peak traffic flows.

“Road users are asked to please plan ahead, allow extra travel time and take extra care when workers are on site. Observe speed limits, lane restrictions and traffic controllers when travelling through the area,” said DIT.
