Wickham Freight Lines has taken delivery of its first electric truck, in the form of a Volvo FM Electric.
Featuring up to 660hp, six batteries and a 300 kilometre range, the new truck will be travelling up and down the Pacific Highway.
Wickham Freight Lines is among the country’s largest family owned and operated transport companies, delivering refrigerated meat, farm produce, general and express freight across the east coast.
Started by Peter and Angus Wickham in 1978, today the business is run by Graham Keogh and Darren Eather, who have been company directors since 2000.
The company operates out of depots in Warwick, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Bundaberg, Glen Innes, Albury, Armidale and Tamworth.
In taking delivery of the new Volvo FM Electric, which was purchased through Western Truck Group, Wickham Freight Lines said the purchase marks a significant step forward in its sustainability journey.
“This milestone not only reduces our carbon footprint but also reinforces our commitment to innovation. You can spot our new vehicle on the Pacific Motorway with our local drivers Bushy and Jimmy at the wheel,” the company said.
