The Australian Livestock and Rural Transporters Association (ALRTA) has announced the appointment of its new executive committee.
For the coming term, Gerard Johnson – who is also president of the Livestock and Rural Transporters Association of Queensland (LRTAQ) and owner of Gerard Johnson Transport – will lead the ALRTA as president.
Scott McDonald will remain involved with the ALRTA as immediate past president.
In announcing the news, ALRTA said: “We would like to thank Scott McDonald for his five years of dedicated leadership. His guidance has made a significant impact on both ALRTA and the rural transport industry.
Supporting Gerard in the role will be vice presidents Wade Lewis (LBRCA) and David Fyfe (LRTAWA), treasurer Anthony Boyle (LRTAV), and secretary Tamara McArdle (LRTASA). While Athol Carter (LRTAQ) will represent the ALRTA at the Australian Trucking Association (ATA).
ALRTA added: “We are looking forward to working with the new executive team. Together, we will continue to focus on advancing policies and programs that highlight the vital role rural transport plays in Australia’s economy, contributing $5 billion annually to regional and rural communities.
“We look forward to a productive year and are confident that our new leadership will help drive the industry forward.”
