Two people have died following a two-vehicle crash in Tregony, Queensland, this morning.

At approximately 2.20am, two trucks were travelling in opposite directions along the Cunningham Highway when they crashed, causing both trucks to rollover.

The driver and a passenger in one of the trucks died at the scene.

Six other people sustained minor injuries, said the Queensland Police Service.

The Cunningham Highway is closed in both directions and police said it is expected to be shut for several hours while emergency services clear the scene.

Earlier today qldtraffic.qld.gov.au said that there were turnaround locations for light and heavy vehicles at Fisher Park for eastbound traffic and Lake Moogerah Road for westbound traffic.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash.

This morning’s tragedy is the lastest in a series of fatalities involving truck drivers since November 1.
