Police investigating after ‘shot fired’ at truck in Moree

A truck driver has escaped injury after his truck was struck by “a shot” as he travelled through Moree over the weekend.

Police were told the truck was near the intersection of Edward Street and Jones Avenue at about 12:30pm on Saturday, November 9, when the 42-year-old male driver heard a noise.

He stopped a short time later and located a small indent in his vehicle and contacted police.

No one was injured, however inquiries are ongoing.

Officers attached to New England Police District are currently investigating the incident.

A community Facebook group, Moree Street Wise Community Watch, also shared a warning for truck drivers travelling through the area.

“It’s beyond a joke and something has to be done now. Enough is enough,” the post said, also urging drivers to avoid the Frome Street bypass at Moree.

Anyone with information is urged to phone Moree Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
