Truckies have been warned that the John Row Bridge on the Bruce Highway will be closed to all traffic in both directions from 7pm tonight (Monday November 25) until 5am tomorrow (Tuesday November 26).
There is a detour available for light vehicles and four axle rigid trucks via the Halifax Road. The detour is not suitable for heavy vehicles.
Traffic control will be present at the bridge, which is 3km north of Ingham in Queensland, and delays are expected during active hours.
The closure is due to bridge rehabilitation works which commenced last month and are expected to continue until early December.
Roadwork hours are between 6.30am and 5pm and heavy vehicle operators with oversize vehicles or transporting wide loads greater than 3m are not permitted to cross the bridge during this time.
The works require a single lane closure, with contraflow traffic signals in place throughout the works period.
Traffic impacts include speed restrictions and “short delays”.
Advanced warning signs are in place on approach to the work area, notifying drivers of the changed conditions.
Road users are asked to drive carefully through the roadwork zone, following the direction of signage and adhering to the reduced speed limits.
TMR said in a statement: “TMR would like to thank you for your patience and understanding during these important works.”
