Penske issues recall for 989 trucks

Penske has issued a recall notice for 989 Dennis Eagle trucks due to a manufacturing defect affecting the brakes.

The units concerned include all variants of Dennis Eagle ELITE 2 and ELITE 6 models issued between 2016 and 2024.

The recall notice reads: “Due to a manufacturing defect, the front axle brake line hose(s) may become dislodged from the brake valve.

“This may cause a reduction in braking performance or an unintended park brake application.”

Owners of affected vehicles should contact their preferred Dennis Eagle dealer to have parts ordered and arrange for the hoses to be replaced free of charge.

This supersedes a previous recall that warned of a manufacturing defect affecting 883 Dennis Eagle trucks manufactured between 2016 and 2023 (DE 6X4/DE 6X4 DUAL/.ELITE6 RHS 3-AXLE/ELITE6 DC 3-AXLE).

Owners or operators who have had their vehicle inspected under the previous recall must also contact their preferred Dennis Eagle Dealer to have parts ordered and arrange for the brake hoses to be replaced free of charge.
