Anyone who would like to know more about apprenticeship pathways in the heavy vehicle industry in Queensland is invited to attend a free information forum in Brisbane on December 3.
Organised by the Motor Trades Association of Queensland (MTAQ) and hosted by Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA), the event has been prompted by recent industry engagements which found some employers are not using the apprenticeship system.
The Bus, Truck and Trailer Manufacturing Apprenticeship Information Forum will provide an overview of the apprenticeship system, including how skills are developed for staff and the role of the apprenticeship system in Queensland in building future skills for the industry. It will also explain the role of TAFE Queensland in the overall eco-system.
In addition, attendees will also have the chance to raise any issues, concerns and barriers to pursuing apprenticeship pathways in their business, said organisers.
MTAQ is an Industry Skills Advisory (ISA) organisation for the automotive industry, tasked by the Queensland Government with engaging with employers and industry stakeholders to provide advice and intelligence about current and emerging industry direction, regional skills needs and training solutions, job growth and employment opportunities.
MTAQ hopes that if industry is experiencing any barriers to accessing the apprenticeship it can identify these and report to the Queensland Government on how barriers could be addressed.
The forum will be held at HVIA’s head office at 2/115 Bluestone Circuit, Seventeen Mile Rocks on Tuesday, December 3, from 2-3pm.
