Changed traffic conditions due to M1 Pacific Motorway extension work

Truckies are advised of changed traffic conditions from Monday, December 2, until Friday, December 6, to continue construction work for the M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace.

To minimise the impact to drivers, work will be carried out at night at the following locations:

  • From 7pm to 5am on Monday 2, Tuesday 3 and Thursday 5 December the eastbound off ramp from the New England Highway to Anderson Drive will be closed with a detour in place (see below) via New England Highway/Maitland Road, weather permitting.

  • From 7pm to 5am on Monday, December 2, Tuesday, December 3 and Thursday, December 5, the John Renshaw Drive slip lane (westbound from New England Highway) will be closed with a detour in place via Weakleys Drive to John Renshaw Drive and the M1 Motorway, weather permitting (see below). Please note that this detour is unsuitable for vehicles operating on the SPV Level 6, SPV Level 4 & 12t/ axle & SPV Level networks. Oversize, overmass vehicles and special purpose vehicles will be escorted through the closure.

  • From 7pm to 5am on Monday, December 2, Tuesday, December 3 and Thursday, December 5, Tomago Road will be closed at the intersection with the Pacific Highway, with a detour in place to allow installation of new traffic signals (see below). Motorists will be detoured via Old Punt Road to access Tomago Road from the Pacific Highway during this time.

Operators of oversize and/or overmass vehicles with a ground contact wider than 3.2 metres or with overall width wider than 4.5 metres are advised to contact the project team on 0423 323 946 at least one day ahead of proposed movement.

Significant delays can occur through failure to make contact prior to travel.

Please note vehicles travelling under a permit must not travel off the approved route listed in the permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.

Major construction work will continue across the remainder of the project from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and Saturday from 8am to 5pm, as well as out of hours from 7pm to 5am Monday to Friday nights.

The work will also require lane closures with intermittent stoppages and temporary speed reductions to 40km/h at the following locations and times:

From 7pm to 5am, on the nights of Monday, December 2, to Friday, December 6, at the following locations:

  • M1 Pacific Motorway at Beresfield and Black Hill
  • John Renshaw Drive at Beresfield
  • New England Highway at Tarro
  • Pacific Highway at Tomago and Heatherbrae
  • Old Punt Road near Pacific Highway at Tomago

From 7am to 5pm, Monday, December 2, to Friday, December 6 at the following locations:

  • Lenaghans Drive at Black Hill
  • Old Punt Road near Pacific Highway at Tomago
  • New England Highway Eastbound at Tarro

Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time and follow the directions of signs and traffic controllers.
