Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL) has revealed the winners of its annual Truck of the Year competition, with a customised NLR 45-150 model taking top honours.
IAL Marketing and Advertising Manager Sam Gangemi says the competition is a way of acknowledging the brand’s loyal customers.
“It’s one of the highlights of our year to bring together Truck of the Year competition entrants and celebrate the hard work they’ve been doing around the country,” he said.
“It has been our great pleasure to keep this space open for the truck driving community, the owner-operators and small businesses to share their passion for life on the road and their Isuzu trucks for over 25 years now.
Isuzu’s judging panel comes together each year in December to look at the monthly competition winners and deliberate on who goes through to the final rounds.
This year, each Isuzu Trucks Series winner (N Series, F Series, FX Series, and FY Series) receives a $1000 prepaid Visa cash card and a chance at being named the Grand Prize winner.
The Grand Prize Winner has won a $6000 prepaid Visa cash card and the title of 2024 Truck of the Year.
“The competition is a great way to get a glimpse into how our customers put their trucks to work and all the truly unique thinking that goes into designing their perfect vehicle,” Sam added.
Grand prize winner
Taking out the 2024 Truck of the Year grand prize is Sydney Side Plumbing.
Mo Mourad and Sydney Side Plumbing entered a one-of-a-kind NLR 45-150 which impressed judges with its combination of creativity and efficiency.
“We’ve designed a custom NLR 45-150 that’s equipped with everything for our business of leak detection and plumbing in Sydney,” said Mo.
“My Isuzu truck has a high-pressure water jet out the back, PVC pipe holders on top, and emergency lights and an LED board that can display messages when we’re working on the road.”
Along with receiving top accolades in the competition, this truck and took out the prize for ‘King of the N Series’.
F Series winner
Zozo’s Earthworx and Jason Spiteri have won the ‘King of the F Series’ category with his classic FRR 600 (FRR 110-240) operating out of Dean Park in New South Wales.
“What makes our truck special to us is that the whole thing was custom built by myself in my backyard,” said Jason.
“I put a lot of hard work and labour into transforming it from the Pantech that it was when I first bought it.”
FX Series winner
Dean Lamb and Watts Fresh have won ‘King of the FX Series’ with this FXY 240-350 with a custom-made insulated curtain.
The Watts Fresh delivery truck is provides the regional town of Kyneton in Victoria with local deli goods, health foods, fruit and vegetables.
FY Series winner
Daniel O’Brien and Brooks Lift and Shift won the ‘King of the FY Series’ category with this FYJ 300-350 crane truck.
The FYJ 300-350 travels between Adelaide, Melbourne and Geelong.
“My Isuzu is very versatile in what it is able to carry and lift,” said Daniel.
