Detours and delays for truckies as work continues on Pacific Motorway

Truckies have been advised of changed traffic conditions from today (Monday January 6) to Friday January 10 on the New England Highway at Tarro in New South Wales.

The disruption is due to work being carried out on the M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace.

Work will be carried out in the evenings and overnight, to “minimise disruption”.

From 7pm to 5am on Monday 6, Tuesday 7 and Thursday 9 January the eastbound off ramp from the New England Highway to Anderson Drive will be closed, with a detour in place via New England Highway/Maitland Road, weather permitting.

From 7pm to 5am on Monday 6, Tuesday 7 and Thursday 9 January, the John Renshaw Drive slip lane (westbound from New England Highway) will be closed, with a detour in place via Weakleys Drive to John Renshaw Drive and the M1 Motorway, weather permitting.

This detour is unsuitable for vehicles operating on the SPV Level 6, SPV Level 4 and 12t/ axle and SPV Level networks. Oversize and/or overmass vehicles and special purpose vehicles will be escorted through the closure.

Operators of oversize and/or overmass vehicles with a ground contact wider than 3.2 metres or with overall width wider than 4.5 metres are advised to contact the project team on 0423 323 946 at least one day ahead of planned travel.

Transport for NSW has warned that “significant delays” can occur if you do not make contact prior to travel.

Vehicles travelling under a permit must not travel off the approved route listed in the permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.

Major construction work will continue across the remainder of the project from 7am to 6pm weekdays and Saturday from 8am to 5pm, as well as out of hours from 7pm to 5am Monday to Friday nights.

The work will also require lane closures with intermittent stoppages and temporary speed reductions to 40km/h at the following locations and times:

  • M1 Pacific Motorway at Beresfield and Black Hill
