Queensland operation Russell Transport is celebrating its 100-year anniversary – and the family behind the business couldn’t be prouder to have stood the test of time.
Founded in 1925 by Roy Bayley Russell, Russell Transport started out transporting motor spirit for Dalgety & Co Ltd, agents for the Commonwealth Oil Refinery (COR) in Brisbane.
From these humble beginnings, the company has grown into a leading name in transportation and logistics, with a strong commitment to family values and exceptional customer service.
“Reaching our 100th year is a testament to the hard work and vision of three generations of the Russell family, as well as the dedication of our employees and the loyalty of our customers,” said Ken Russell, director of Russell Transport.
“We’re excited to celebrate this milestone and to continue our legacy of excellence in transportation and logistics.”
Throughout its history, Russell Transport has been shaped by the contributions of key family members.
Roy and Beryl Russell laid the foundation, with Beryl playing a crucial role in the company’s operations even after Roy’s retirement.
Their son Phil Russell took over in 1970, expanding and modernising the company, before the third generation – Julie, Ken, and Michael Russell – joined in the 1990s and 2000s, bringing fresh perspectives and driving further growth.
To commemorate their anniversary, Russell Transport will host or be present at a series of events throughout the year, including a gala dinner in June.
These celebrations will honour the company’s rich history and look forward to its future in an ever-evolving industry.
“As Russell Transport moves into its 100th year, it stays committed to its founding principles of reliability, innovation, and family values,” Ken Russell added.
“This milestone not only celebrates the company’s past achievements but also marks the beginning of a new chapter in its storied history.”
