Loyal driver celebrates 28 years at K S Easter

She’s spent close to 40 years on the road and 28 of them have been with K S Easter. Veteran truckie Kathy Mobbs is the company’s longest serving linehaul driver.

In a Facebook post this week celebrating her achievement, K S Easter paid tribute to its “number 1 and longest term employed linehaul driver Kathy, ‘LK’, Lil Kidd, Mobbsy.

“Not much she hasn’t done or runs she hasn’t completed or tasks she hasn’t carried out for us, over that period,” the business said.

“Not always with a smile on her face but still did it and to her best ability. Always with a perfect result. Still doing express every night. Still on time every trip. Puts many to shame. Thank you Kath from all of us in the business and the Easter family.”

Based in Brisbane, Kathy started working at Easter Group/DTC in 1997.

You’ll find her behind the wheel of a 2023 model Kenworth T610 SAR, which she’s had since brand new – complete with personalised plates that feature the letters LK.

LK stands for her nickname Little Kid, which she told Big Rigs at the time was a nickname she was given when she first started as a driver. “I was with some really big drivers and I was really tiny, so I got the nickname Little Kid. But I haven’t been called that for years, now it’s just ‘LK’.”

She was inspired to get into trucking after growing up on a dairy farm, where she’d watch in awe as trucks passed by.

Kathy was previously honoured for her professionalism by the Queensland Trucking Association (QTA) where she was named the 2022 Professional Driver of the Year – making her the first ever female driver to take out the award.
