A truck driver has been killed in a tragic head-on crash on the Gore Highway at Brookstead, Queensland, with another truck last night.
One of the trucks caught fire and the driver received life-threatening injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.
The other driver had non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the nearby Millmeran health service in a stable condition, said Queensland Police.
Police investigations indicate that around 10.30pm emergency services were called to the crash following reports two vehicles travelling in opposite directions collided.
According to reports, one truck was carrying alcohol and the other truck was carrying grain.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said the truck carrying alcohol caught fire, with the flames spreading to the cab of the other truck that was carrying grain.
Police are appealing to witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam to come forward.
Investigations are continuing.
The tragic incident follows soon after a truck driver was killed in a rollover on the Barrier Hwy in South Australia on Friday, February 14.
The Hino truck rolled on the highway about 18km south of Burra, in South Australia’s mid-north region.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, who were called about 6.20am on Friday, the truck driver — a 56-year-old man from the northern Adelaide suburb of Paralowie — was pronounced dead at the scene.
