$20 million to rehabilitate less than 4-kilometres of D’Aguilar Highway

Works will soon begin to rehabilitate two sections of the busy D’Aguilar Highway in Queensland.

The sections of road being upgraded are approximately 2.3km of the D’Aguilar Highway through the township of Woodford (locally known as Archer Street), from Peterson Road to Mary Street, and approximately 1.4km near Bracalba Quarry at Bracalba.

The projects, fully funded by the Queensland Government, aim to improve the road surface and underlying pavement, extending the life of the highway and reducing costs associated with ongoing routine maintenance.

Transport and Main Roads North Coast Regional Director Scott Whitaker said, “The D’Aguilar Highway is a strategic link in Queensland’s state-controlled road network, linking the Bruce Highway to the communities of Caboolture, Wamuran, D’Aguilar, Woodford and Kilcoy. It also forms part of a vital freight route servicing the local area and the Darling Downs region.

“Rehabilitating key arterial roads like the D’Aguilar Highway is important for extending the life of the road and ensuring a safer journey for all road users.”

Early works are scheduled to start this month for both sections, with main construction activity to follow soon after.

Works through Woodford are expected to take approximately four months to complete, and the concurrent works near Bracalba Quarry expected to take approximately seven months.

“The upcoming works near Bracalba Quarry adjoin a 2.8km section of resurfacing and rehabilitation that was completed late last year,” Whitaker added.

“Close to 13,000 motorists travel these sections of the D’Aguilar Highway daily and I’m confident the new road surface through Woodford and past Bracalba Quarry will be welcomed.

“TMR has a number of projects underway, or upcoming, on the D’Aguilar Highway, as part of a coordinated approach to improve driving conditions and safety between Caboolture and Kilcoy.”

Transport and Main Roads (TMR) has invested $20 million into the two projects through the Pavement Rehabilitation program.
