Hundreds of trucks are preparing to rally through Perth tomorrow for the Keep the Sheep federal election launch convoy.
Campaign spokesperson Ben Sutherland, President of the Livestock and Rural Transport Association of WA, said the movement would be “peaceful and respectful” but still send a clear message.
“Let’s send a message to the Albanese Labor government that they can’t shut us down,” Sutherland said on the Keep the Sheep Facebook page.
“We need you and all of your city mates to help us stand with our rural communities against the ban on live sheep exports.”
Labor recently introduced legislation prohibiting the export of live sheep by sea after May 1, 2028.
The Coalition has pledged to reinstate live sheep exports if successful at the next federal election.
Similar to the Keep the Sheep launch rally in May 2024, tomorrow’s convoy will start at 7.30am from four locations – Neerabup in the north, Mundijong in the south, Bedfordale in the east and Fremantle for those coming to the city from the west.
