The design for the remaining section of the D’Aguilar Highway upgrade between Nanango and Kingaroy has now been confirmed, with works to begin later this year.
The D’Aguilar Highway has been progressively upgraded between Yarraman and Kingaroy since 2019 as part of the High Risk Roads program of works, a Queensland Government-funded initiative to address key safety concerns on the state-controlled road network identified for a whole road segment or route, instead of at individual discrete locations.
The Queensland government has committed $35.41 million to the D’Aguilar Highway project.
Early preparatory works are now underway for this final stage, with major construction starting in the second half of 2025.
Key improvements will include:
- an intersection upgrade at Bushnells Road
- road widening between Cafferys Road and Parsons Road
- realignment of a section of road between Bushnells Road and Parsons Road
- installation of wide centre line treatment.
Some additional bitumen works will also be carried out on sections of the D’Aguilar Highway at Coolabunia to improve the road surface and travelling conditions.
Transport and Main Roads Regional Director for Southern Queensland, Bill Lansbury, said: “Motorists are already enjoying some of the benefits offered by works completed to date on the D’Aguilar Highway as part of the multimillion dollar safety improvements being delivered.
“Once works on all sections are complete, the department will have upgraded 24km of the D’Aguilar Highway to improve safety and traffic efficiency.”
