As part of a current trial, Linfox has been given the green light from Transurban and the Department of Transport and Planning to expand the access of its Volvo electric prime movers on Melbourne’s road network.
Linfox says these electric prime movers are the first of their kind in Australia and that they can now be used to move groceries and essential goods more quickly from one side of Melbourne to the other, while reducing congestion on inner city roads.
Doug Fryer APM GAICD, Linfox President, Corporate Services said, “We have established a trusted and positive relationship, with Transurban and Department of Transport and Planning, and are working together to achieve our common goal to improve sustainability across the logistics industry.
“This is a critical partnership, which has allowed Linfox to optimise transport routes and provide customers with efficient and viable options for more sustainable deliveries.”
David Clements, Transurban Group Executive Operations added, “Freight keeps our cities moving, and electric trucks have a critical role to play in its future.
“This trial demonstrates what’s possible when industry and government come together to solve challenges and shape smarter, cleaner transport networks.”
