The driver of an overlength truck and dog combination has landed in hot water after the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) detected major brake concerns.
The issue was discovered by the NHVR’s Safety and Compliance Officers during an intercept.
An axle on the dog trailer and both slack adjusters were disconnected from the s-cams, leaving the overlength combination as a severe safety concern on the roads,” the NHVR has revealed.
The regulator also issues a reminder to heavy vehicle operators about the importance of maintaining heavy vehicles, through regular checks, to help ensure safety – not only for them, but for other road users too.
