Young driver Guy Cassels, 26, had carried fertiliser for R&K Bulk Haulage from Brisbane to north Queensland when Big Rigs saw him earlier this month.
He was checking out his Kenworth T909 and said he has been a truckie for six months.
“I really love doing this and hope to for many years,” he said.
His favourite roadhouse is the BP Charlton in Queensland, which he said serves good food.
As for rest areas, Guy believes more were needed for drivers but there is one in NSW he likes. “It is at Beresfield around Newcastle,” he said.
The Gore Highway between Millmerran and Goondiwindi is the one he feels is amongst the worst he gets along.
A keen rugby league fan, Guy follows both the Brisbane Broncos and the North Queensland Cowboys.
His hobbies are going to car shows and a spot of fishing when he gets the time.
“I have caught flathead, bream and salmon in waters on the Gold Coast,” he added.
