Traffic changes for truckies as work on M1 Pacific Highway Motorway extension continues

To minimise the impacts to drivers this week, work on the M1 Pacific Motorway extension will be carried out at night at the following locations:

  • From 7pm to 5am on Monday, May 19, Tuesday, May 20 and Friday, May 23 the eastbound off ramp from the New England Highway to Anderson Drive will be closed with a detour in place via New England Highway/Maitland Road, weather permitting – see map below.
  • On the same days and times the eastbound and westbound lanes of the New England Highway will be under a contraflow arrangement from Tarro Rail Bridge to John Renshaw Drive, as will the northbound and southbound lanes of the M1 from Weakleys Drive to Black Hill Road.

Operators of oversize and/or over mass vehicles with a ground contact wider than 3.2 metres or with overall width greater than 4.5 metres are advised to contact the project team on 0423 323 946 at least one day ahead of proposed movement. Significant delays can occur through failure to make contact prior to travel.

Transport for NSW (TfNSW) also reminded operators that vehicles travelling under a permit must not travel off the approved route listed in the permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.

Major construction work will continue across the remainder of the project from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and Saturday from 8am to 5pm, as well as out of hours from 7pm to 5am Monday to Friday nights.

The work will also require lane closures with intermittent stoppages and temporary speed reductions to 40km/h at the following locations and times:

From 7pm to 5am, May 19-23

  • M1 Pacific Motorway at Beresfield and Black Hill
  • John Renshaw Drive at Beresfield
  • New England Highway at Tarro
  • Pacific Highway at Tomago and Heatherbrae

From 7am to 5pm, May 19-23
