A truck driver in his 30s has been tragically killed in a crash on the New England Highway at The Glen, just south of Warwick, over the weekend.
Queensland Police reported that the truck had been travelling northbound on Saturday, May 24, in a convoy with two other trucks when it collided shortly before 5pm with a trailer of another vehicle.
Police said the truck then lost control, left the road, and crashed into a tree.
A man in his 30s was pronounced deceased at the scene, said police.
Police said the driver and passenger of the other vehicle were not physically injured.
According to another media report, Queensland Fire Department (QFD) crews were on the scene for several hours, using hydraulic equipment to remove the deceased man from the vehicle.
A QFD spokeswoman said heavy haulage arrived just after 9pm to begin removing the vehicle, which was on its side, off the highway.
Fire crews left the scene at around 11pm.
Queensland Police’s Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and anyone with more information is urged to come forward.
