Ritchie Bros. is marking 30 years of operations in Australia with a major national milestone: a Live Unreserved End-of-Financial-Year Auction in Geelong, running from June 18-20.
The anniversary event will bring together equipment buyers and sellers from across the country, offering both on-site and online bidding for maximum accessibility.
Hosted at 200 O’Briens Rd, Geelong, this large-scale auction will combine the energy of a live theatre auction with the convenience of digital participation. All equipment will be sold unreserved – no minimum bids, no reserve prices – ensuring fair market value for every item.
“This anniversary auction is not only a celebration of our 30-year legacy in Australia but also a reflection of the continued trust our customers place in the unreserved model,” said Dom McGlinchey, APAC Sales Director at Ritchie Bros.
“There’s still strong appetite for live events, and this format allows buyers and sellers to connect in a way that blends tradition with technology.”

In-person inspections will be available prior to the auction days, on Saturday June 14, from 9am to 3pm.
Registration is free. Participants intending to bid online must register in advance via the website. Those attending in person should register at the reception desk on the day of the event – online registration is not required for in-person bidding. All registrants will receive a unique bidder number upon completing the process.
During the live auction, bids are placed by raising a hand and relayed to the bid catchers. Online bids are submitted by clicking “Bid Now” and are monitored and transmitted in real time.
Participants also have the option to place their maximum bid in advance using the Priority Bidding option, either directly through their account on the website or the app, or by contacting Ritchie Bros customer service by phone.
When similar items are grouped together, the highest bidder has the option to choose one, several, or all units at the winning price. If any items remain, the opportunity passes to the next highest bidder at the same price. If declined, bidding resumes for the remaining items.
Online bidders can follow the live auction feed from anywhere.
All items sold at the event will be subject to an 8.5 per cent transaction fee and GST. Payments are to be made via wire transfer only, and items are sold “as-is, where-is,” with no warranty.
Ritchie Bros. says this anniversary event underscores its large presence in Australia’s equipment sector, providing a platform for local and global buyers to access top-quality machinery and trucks with unparalleled transparency.
“Whether bidding live in Geelong or online from anywhere, this auction reflects the ongoing strength of our commitment to serving the needs of both sellers and buyers alike. This is a great chance to experience the excitement of a live auction, just like the old days – but with all the benefits of bidding nationwide,” McGlinchey added.
