There will be changed traffic conditions in place, including reduced speed limits and temporary rest area closures, as works take place on the New England Highway at Bendemeer.
Transport for NSW (TfNSW) will carry out safety and road upgrade work along a six-kilometre stretch of the highway, around 52 kilometres north of Tamworth.
Work will include widening sealed shoulders, pavement upgrades, culvert desilting and extensions, drainage improvements, installation of new flexible guardrails, centre line treatments and resurfacing.
Work will begin on Monday June 2 and is expected to be completed by mid-February 2026, weather permitting.
This work will be carried out Monday to Saturday from 6:30am to 6pm; with no work taking place on Sundays or public holidays.
There will be one lane closed with stop/slow traffic control using traffic lights and a reduced 40km/h speed limit in place during work hours.
The Muswell Hill Rest Area is located within the work zone and will be closed during work hours from 6:30am to 6:00pm, Monday to Saturday.
The nearest alternative heavy vehicle rest areas are Wildcroft Rest Area Northbound, located approximately 23km south of Muswell Hill Rest Area and New England Highway; and the Kentucky pull over bay which is 15km north of Muswell Hill Rest Area.
TfNSW says oversize over mass (OSOM) operators should contact the project site supervisor, Scott Blanch on 0427 900 349, two days prior to travel to arrange travel through the worksite.
Variable message boards will provide UHF channel and further information ahead of the scheduled work.
