Changed traffic conditions at East Seaham impacting heavy vehicles

There will be changed traffic conditions in place from next week and into 2026 on East Seaham Road, East Seaham due to safety upgrades.

East Seaham Road will be closed in both directions so contractors for Port Stephens Council can seal and widen a 3.1 kilometre section of the road, upgrade drainage infrastructure and install safety barriers.

Transport for NSW (TfNSW) has advised that East Seaham Road will be closed from Monday June 2 at the boundary of Port Stephens Council and Dungog Shire Council at East Seaham.

The road is expected to be closed until early 2026, weather permitting.

This closure will affect existing heavy vehicle detours in place due to current load limits on Brig O’Johnston Bridge at Clarence Town.

In addition, heavy vehicles cannot use Glen Martin Road as an alternative route as there is a 20 tonne limit at Glen William due to structural issues with an existing culvert.

Articulated trucks, vehicles wider than 2.8 metres and vehicles heavier than 22.5 tonnes are advised to use the Pacific Highway and Italia Road instead and allow extra travel time.
