Truckies are advised of changed overnight traffic conditions on Maitland Road while work is carried out for the Hexham Straight Widening project near Newcastle, NSW.
From 7pm, Sunday, June 15, to 5am, Monday, June 16, weather permitting, Transport for NSW (TfNSW) will be carrying out line-marking and barrier removal and installation.
During this work, there will be a restriction on oversize and overmass (OSOM) freight travelling on Maitland Road, via the Pacific Highway.
OSOM operations with a ground contact wider than 3.4m or with overall width more than 4.5m intending to travel through the site are advised to contact the project team at least one day ahead of movement on 1800 515 141.
They should expect delays of up to 30 minutes, said TfNSW. Significant delays will occur if contact is not made. OSOM operators are advised the project operates on UHF channel 45 throughout the site.
A temporary speed limit of 60km/h will remain in place through the project work zone during ongoing day work, with a reduction to 40km/h during night works.
Please note: vehicles travelling under a permit must not travel off the approved route listed in the permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the NHVR.
Drivers are advised to follow the directions of signs and traffic controllers, use alternative routes where possible or allow up to 15 minutes’ extra travel time.
