Drivers are advised of changed overnight traffic conditions next week across the Hunter region of NSW to carry out safety maintenance work at 16 sites.
Transport for NSW will carry out shot blasting work on the road surfaces at each site to help increase road friction during wet weather conditions to improve safety for motorists.
To minimise impact to drivers, work starting Monday, June 23, will be carried out from Monday to Sunday, spending one night at each site and is expected to be completed in two weeks, weather permitting.
For the safety of workers, sites with:
- one lane in each direction – will have single lane, alternating traffic flow arrangements, portable traffic lights and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h in place.
- two lanes in each direction – will have single lane closures, portable traffic lights and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h in place.
Operators of oversize and/or overmass vehicles with a ground contact wider than 4.5m are advised to contact the project team on 0411 043 428 to be escorted through the site.
All drivers are advised to allow for extra travel time, drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
